House Rules

  1. Use of alcohol or any illegal drug will not be tolerated and will result in immediate expulsion from the house.  This includes any over the counter or prescription medication not approved by the house Staff or Directors.
  2.  As a resident you are subject to a breathalyzer and or urinalysis at anytime.
  3. Physical confrontation or the threat of it will not be tolerated and will result in expulsion from the house.
  4. Residents with a continuously poor attitude towards staff, other residents or our recovery program will be asked to leave.
  5. No profanity will be tolerated, continual profanity will result in red marks and restrictions and loss of privileges. TV, house computer, overnights, etc.
  6. All residents are required to attend bible studies which generally run from 7 pm until 8 pm, (Mon. Tues. Thurs. Fri.)  Wed service, Sunday early service and Sunday school must also be attended.  No exceptions. Failure to attend or be late without calling will result in red marks and restrictions or loss of privileges and possible expulsion from the house.
  7. All residents are required to participate in bible studies by asking questions and providing positive input. All cell phones are to be silenced or turned off during bible studies, and as a common respect for the teacher all bathroom breaks will be kept to a minimum.
  8. All residents are to be in bed by 11:00 pm Sunday thru Thursday and 12:00 am Friday and Saturday.
  9. All residents are to be up and out of bed by 8:00am Monday through Friday, including beds made upon awakening. Simply throwing your covers over you bed will not be accepted and will result in red marks.  Residents are allowed to take a nap during the day until this privilege is abused.
  10. All residents are to seek employment via our house computer during the first 30 days of residency. We also receive the Kansas City Star for employment seeking as well.
  11. New residents will be restricted to the house for the first 30 days with the exception of emergencies and church attendance. If in the first 30 days you need the leave the house for any reason you must be accompanied by at least one staff member.
  12. New residents will be required to fill out a Daily Activity Log for the first 30 days; this is to show you what you are doing.  Activity logs will be turned into staff on Friday’s and new logs will be handed out for the next week.
  13. All new residents will be required to give up their personal cell phone for at least two weeks of the first 30 days of residency. After that staff will determine whether to hold residents phone for the remainder of the first 30 days of residency.
  14. Anchor house rent is $90.00 weekly with one week’s rent due in advance. If resident owns a cell phone you must keep your rent current. If your rent falls behind 2  weeks and you have a cell phone you will be reviewed by the Anchor House Ministry  staff and directors for possible surrender of phone until rent is current.
  15. The house computer is designed for residents to seek work and submit resumes to find employment. All usage of the house computer will be subject to monitoring by staff.  Improper use will result in restricted or limited access or loss of computer privilege completely.  The computer will be off limits to residents from 11:00 pm until 7:00 am.
  16. There is a 20 minute time limit on house phone calls. This will be enforced. Abuse of this policy may result in loss of phone privileges entirely. The house phone is able to call anywhere in the U.S. for free.
  17. The house television will be turned off from the hours of 8:00 am to 2:00 pm weekday’s and 11:00 pm to 5:00 am Sunday thru Thursday, also 12:00 am to 5:00 am Friday and Saturday.
  18. The Anchor House is a no smoking facility if you wish to smoke you must go outside.
  19. The thermostat and wood burning stove is off limits to residents. The Staff will oversee duties of both.
  20. Residents are not to engage in any romantic relationships or any sexual activity. This does not apply to married residents with their spouse. Obscene or pornographic material is prohibited. Staff reserves the right to determine what is obscene or not.
  21. The tool room and garage where the Anchor House LLC tools are stored are off limits to residents and you will not use LLC tools without staff approval and permission.
  22. The kitchen closes at 10:30 pm on weekdays and 11:30 pm on weekends. Clean up after yourself. If you cook or eat after the kitchen has been cleaned for the day, (typically about 9-9:30pm) you are responsible to clean up your dishes, and will receive a red mark or restrictions for not doing so.
  23. Sleeping or laying on couches, chairs, etc is strictly forbidden.
  24. All residents will be fully dressed at all times while in the common areas of the house. This includes wearing shoes, socks, shower shoes, or sandals.  No bare feet.
  25. All residents will keep their living area clean at all times. All residents are to bathe regularly. Body odor or dirty clothes anywhere in the house will not be tolerated.
  26. All residents will be assigned a house chore. Chores are assigned every Monday of each week. Your chore is your responsibility for the entire week. Chores are to be done at least 3 times a week and in some cases more than 3 times a week. Dishes are to be done at least once a day. You must mark your chore off every time you do it to receive proper credit, if you don’t mark your chore off on the corresponding day staff will assume you did not do it. Failure to mark off the chore board or not do your chore will result in red marks and possible loss of privileges.
  27. Residents are responsible for keeping the house clean, pick up after yourself. Nobody wants to pick up after you.
  28. After 60 days or residency you will be eligible for overnight passes. All requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance the resident’s rent must be paid up and they cannot be under any kind of house disciplinary action. Remember this is a privilege not a right.
  29. Keep records of what you earn. You may be required to prove income. No resident can be self employed. Employment must be with a company that withholds taxes. No under the table work, or working for cash.
  30. Do not keep items of value at the house (TV’s, stereos, jewelry, etc.)  The Anchor House is not responsible for any lost or stolen items owned by residents.  No TV’s, stereos or laptops will be  allowed in resident’s rooms.
  31. The Anchor House does not permit your children to visit you on the premises for insurance purposes. Your family is expected to provide a family home environment for family restoration. We are in favor of family restoration but the Anchor House is transitional housing for you.
  32. All residents are expected to abide by any and all reasonable requests made by staff.
  33. Resident’s belongings and person are subject to search by staff at any time. Residents will be present at the time of search of belongings. Refusing to submit to search is grounds for dismissal from the house.
  34. It is prohibited for residents to ask or borrow money from other residents.
  35. All of the above rules will be enforced by staff. Red marks will be used to determine disciplinary actions.  Staff will also at its own discretion show grace or mercy as it sees fit based on the circumstances of the event and the track record of the resident or residents.
  36. Remember we are not your mother and we expect all residents to act like grown men.
  37. When residents read and sign the Anchor House Ministry Rules agreement a resident file will be generated and a signed copy along with a rental payment history and all instances and disciplinary actions will be recorded so as to have information about resident behavior for general periodic evaluation by the Anchor House Ministry Board of Directors.
  38. Every few months each Ministry resident will be evaluated by the Anchor House Ministry Board of Directors to determine whether they are increasing, decreasing or stagnant.  The board will then determine the appropriate steps to be taken.
